FAQ

  • A copyeditor ensures that written content is clear, correct, and consistent. They check grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and overall readability, while also ensuring the text aligns with the intended tone and purpose.

  • I edit a wide range of documents including articles, blog posts, books, academic papers, marketing materials, website content, business communications, and more.

  • I can tailor my services to meet the specific terminology and style requirements of most fields, but my specialties include nonprofits and small businesses.

  • I reserve the right to reject working on projects that I find objectionable, including content that is racist, misogynist, homophobic, bigoted, or gratuitously violent toward children, marginalized groups, or animals, then I am not the right editor for you.

  • My process typically includes an initial review, followed by line editing for clarity, consistency, and grammar. I will also check for flow and coherence. After that, I provide feedback and make necessary revisions.

  • New clients may receive a sample edit of 10% of their manuscript or 1500 words, whichever is lower. Once I have confirmed receipt of your sample and we have addressed any concerns, I will perform a line edit of the text. Usually this can be completed within two business days. I do not offer sample developmental or heavy editing due to the necessity of having the complete manuscript for context. With that said, sample edits of any sort are limited by the information provided in the sample that’s submitted. Edits may be adjusted to take the rest of the manuscript into account should you decide to move forward with editing the full manuscript or text.

Note: sample edits are not discounted from the final project fee as additional work will likely be required once incorporated into the full project scope.

  • Editing time depends on the length and complexity of the document as well as the level of editing needed. I will provide an estimate for the completion of the document with your quote.

  • My rates depend on the type of content, its length, and the level of editing required. I offer per-word pricing with additional services as a flat hourly rate. Please contact me for a custom quote based on your specific needs.

  • I can work with any style guide (e.g., AP, Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, etc.) or help create a customized style guide for your project or organization to ensure consistency in your writing. My website follows the Chicago Manual of Style.

  • My services focus on supporting your content to ensure that it is clear, concise, consistent, and correct while preserving your voice as the author. If the project involves a heavy level of editing, I will suggest corrections to wording, structure, and language as appropriate, but my goal is not to rewrite your work.

  • I take confidentiality seriously. Any documents you provide will be handled with care and will not be shared with anyone else. If necessary, I can sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for added peace of mind. While I would love to share a description and possible link to the final product, I will do so only with your permission.

  • I am happy to work with the writing of non-native English speakers to help improve grammar, structure, and overall readability while maintaining the authenticity of their voice.

  • One additional revision is included in my services after editing is done. If you have specific changes or requests, I will address them to ensure your satisfaction.

  • You can submit your document via email, through the submission form on this website, or through any platform that works best for you. Please include any specific instructions or guidelines you have.
